How Do You Make a Mountain in Photoshop?
Have you ever seen a beautiful landscape photo and wished you could recreate it in Photoshop? Or maybe you have an image that would be perfect for a project, but it's missing that one important element: a mountain! In this tutorial, we'll show you how to create a stunning mountain range in Photoshop using some simple techniques.First, open the image that you want to add the mountains to. We'll be using this image of a valley:
Next, create a new layer by clicking on the "Create a new layer" icon at the bottom of the Layers panel:
Now we're going to use the Brush tool to paint our mountains. Select the Brush tool from the Toolbox, or press B on your keyboard to select it.Then, choose a soft-edged brush from the options at the top of the screen. We're using a brush with a diameter of 200 px and 100% hardness:
Once you've selected your brush, it's time to start painting! Use a light touch as you paint along the horizon line in your image. You can use either black or white for your mountains; we're using black in this example.
If you make a mistake while painting, don't worry! Just press Ctrl+Z(Windows) / Cmd+Z(Mac) on your keyboard to undo it and try again.
When you're happy with your mountains, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. This will help blend your mountains into the background: Set the Radius to 10 px and click OK.Finally, we're going to add some shadows to our mountains to make them look more realistic. First, create another new layer:Click on the "Create a new layer" icon again at the bottom of the Layers panel:Then, use the Brush tool to paint some shadows along the base of your mountains:We're using black again for our shadows, with a brush diameter of 400 px and 100% hardness:Once you've added your shadows, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. This will help blend them into the background:Set the Radius to 10 px and click OK.
