Actions in Photoshop are a series of steps or commands that can be recorded and then played back to help automate repetitive tasks. Photoshop comes with a number of pre-recorded actions, and you can also create your own.You can record actions that include most of the commands found in the Photoshop menu bar, including those for filters, layer styles, and transformations.

Once you've recorded an action, you can play it back on any image by choosing Window > Actions. This opens the Actions panel, which displays all the recorded actions in a set. A set is like a container that holds related actions.By default, Photoshop includes a set called Default Actions. You can create additional sets to store your own recorded actions.

To record an action:
  1. Open the Actions panel by choosing Window > Actions. If the panel isn't visible, click the tab on the right side of the workspace.
  2. At the bottom of the panel, click the Create new set icon .In the New Set dialog box, name the set and click OK. To record the action in an existing set, select it from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click the Create new action icon at the bottom of the panel. In the New Action dialog box, name the action, select a function key shortcut if desired, and choose an options from the Stop Playing/Recording drop-down menu.
