There are four color modes in Photoshop: RGB, CMYK, Lab, and Grayscale. Each has a specific purpose. Here’s an overview of the four modes and when to use each one.

RGB

RGB is the color mode used for images you see on computers, televisions, and other electronic devices. This mode uses combinations of red, green, and blue to create color. When you scan or take a digital photo, the default mode is RGB.

CMYK

CMYK is the color mode used for printing. This mode uses a combination of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks to create color. When you print an image, the default mode is CMYK.

Lab

Lab is a color mode designed to more closely match how we see color. This mode uses a combination of lightness and two color channels (a and b) to create color. You don’t see images in Lab mode very often because it can’t be displayed on devices like monitors and televisions.

Grayscale

Grayscale is a color mode that uses different shades of gray to create an image. This mode is often used for black-and-white photos or for images that will be printed using only black ink.

So, which color mode should you use? It depends on what you’re going to do with your image.If you’re going to print it, use CMYK. If you’re going to display it on a screen, use RGB. And if you need more control over the colors in your image, use Lab.
