What Is Figma and How Do You Use It?
Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool - the first interface design tool with real-time collaboration. It’s what we use here at UXPin.And it’s quickly becoming one of the most popular design tools among UX/UI designers.Figma has many features that help streamline the design process, from its vector-based drawing tools to its built-in libraries of colors, fonts, and other assets. But one of its most powerful features is its real-time collaboration capabilities. With Figma, multiple designers can work on the same file at the same time, seeing each other’s changes in real time. This makes it a great tool for team-based design projects.
So how do you use Figma? In this article, we’ll give you a quick overview of Figma’s features and show you how to get started with using the tool.
How to Use FigmaFigma is a web-based design tool, so you can use it anywhere you have an internet connection. To get started, go to figma.com and create an account. You can use Figma for free with some limited features, or upgrade to a paid plan for more advanced features.
Once you’ve created an account, you’ll be taken to your workspace. This is where you’ll find all your projects (called “files” in Figma). To create a new file, click the “Create New File” button in the top left corner.
You’ll be given a few options for what type of file to create:
- UI Kit: A starter kit of pre-made interface elements that you can use to quickly create prototypes or wireframes.
- Wireframe: A bare-bones template with placeholder text and interface elements.
- Design: A blank canvas with no pre-made elements.
For this tutorial, we’ll choose the Design option.
