What Is the Fastest Way to Prototype in Figma?

When it comes to prototyping, there are a few different software options to choose from. Figma is one of the newer options on the market, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite among design teams. One of the reasons for this is because Figma makes it easy to prototype. In this article, we’re going to show you how to prototype in Figma so you can see for yourself just how easy it is.

Creating a New Prototype

The first thing you need to do is create a new prototype in Figma. To do this, simply click on the “Prototypes” tab in the left sidebar and then click on the “+ Create Prototype” button in the top-right corner.

Once you do that, you’ll be taken to the prototype creation screen. Here, you can give your prototype a name and description. You can also choose whether you want your prototype to be public or private.

For this example, we’re going to create a simple prototype for a login screen. So, we’ll name our prototype “Login Screen Prototype” and leave the description blank.

Adding Frames

Next, we need to add some frames to our prototype. A frame is basically just a representation of one screen in your app or website. For our login screen example, we need two frames: one for the login screen itself and one for the dashboard that users will see after they login.

To add a frame, simply click on the “+ Add Frame” button in the top-left corner of the screen. Then, select the type of frame you want to add from the menu that appears.

For our login screen example, we’re going to add an iOS frame and then resize it to fit our needs. To do that, simply click on the “Resize Frame” button in the top-right corner and then enter the desired width and height.

Adding Layers

Now that we have our frames setup, we need to add some layers. Layers are basically just elements that will appear on your screens. For our login screen example, we need two layers: one for the logo and one for the input fields.

To add a layer, click on the “+ Add Layer” button in the top-left corner of the screen and then select the type of layer you want to add from the menu that appears.

For our login screen example, we’re goingto add an image layer for our logo and then two text layers for our input fields.

You can upload your own image or select one from Figma’s built-in library of icons.
